Buffaloes Aim to Tame the Rams in Hostile Environment

This Wednesday, November 29th, the Buffaloes travel to Fort Collins to take on the Colorado State Rams.  The Buffs will be traveling to an undoubtedly hostile environment in Fort Collins as the anticipation builds for one of the biggest rivalries in college sports.  The Buffaloes have had a strong start to the season at 5-1, fresh off the heels of a convincing win against Iona. Colorado has only lost one game, losing to Florida State in a close six point contest.

The Buffs have been led by Tristan Da Silva, averaging 15.2 PPG this year, and have greatly enjoyed the help of newcomer Eddie Lampkin, who transferred from TCU this season and leads the Buffs in rebounds at 8.2 per game.  The Rams have also been in great form, sitting at 6-0, atop the Mountain West division and number 20 in the latest AP poll.  Much of the Rams success has been attributed to rising superstar Isaiah Stevens, who is averaging 17.5 PPG and is emerging as one of the top college point guards in the nation.

This Rams team is known for their size across the court, making them a difficult team to play against on both sides of the ball.  If the Buffs are to win this game, slowing down Stevens and competing physically will be two of the most important factors.  In last year's matchup, the Buffs dealt the Rams a convincing win by over 30 points in a game at home; but the past 10 matchups between the two rivals have been fairly evenly split, with the Buffs holding a 6-4 record.  Regardless of the outcome, this game has the potential to be another classic between the two great rivals, and we should expect a physical, heated, excellent game of basketball.
