Colorado Buffaloes Take on Washington Huskies in Anticipated Pac-12 Opener

Pac-12 conference play begins today, and we've got a real treat with the Colorado Buffaloes taking on the Washington Huskies at the CU Events Center.

The Colorado Buffaloes are on fire this season, boasting a 9-2 record which is their best start since the 2019-20 season. They're killing it in shooting, leading the nation with a 52.6% shooting percentage and also ranking top 10 in 3-point and free-throw percentages. Averaging 89.5 points in the last six games, they've hit over 90 points in six of their 11 games. Junior KJ Simpson and Senior Tristan da Silva are major players in this, with Simpson leading the scoring. KJ Simpson’s shooting number have drastically improved from the year before and is currently putting up an impressive 50/40/90 stat line. Their assists and rebound margin have also been key to their offensive power.

On the other side, the Washington Huskies aren't far behind with an 8-3 record. They've won their last four games and are scoring an average of 83.0 points per game. One of those games being signature win against No. 13 Gonzaga. Their defense, especially on the perimeter, has been solid. Graduate senior Keion Brooks Jr. is a standout, leading the Pac-12 in scoring and being top for the Huskies in rebounding.

Vegas is in Colorado’s favor giving them a -9.5 spread. This will be a game Colorado must win if they want to continue to build their resume for March. Colorado has consistently been on the bubble of the AP Top 25 Poll and a weekly basis, just barely missing enough votes needed to break into the top 25. Colorado had previously been ranked No. 18 earlier in the season. The game will be at 9pm EST and will be televised on ESPNU and can be streamed on the ESPN app.
